Tape Memories
NEW IN 1.10:25The 1.1 tape sounds together: NOSTALGIA's chords, MUSIC BOX, HAZY LEAD and the hiss of VHS HISS, all wobbling like a worn cassette.
- ANALOG NOSTALGIA
- BELL MUSIC BOX
- ANALOG HAZY LEAD
- AMBI VHS HISS
Felucca's thirteen engines and sequencer, plus an ambient machine: a Pad that writes its own chords, bells that grow like a garden, an endless noise of sea, rain or vinyl. In a neon skin, with a ghost.

Tape sounds, in the manner of Boards of Canada:
The FM-1's four tracks become four roles: PAD, LEAD, ECHOES and NOISE, each with its own colour and sounds made for it. Press OCT+ on the AMBIENT page and the machine draws a whole scene at random.
Everything Felucca 1.5.1 does, and an instrument for slow, warm, drifting music on top.
SEQ › AMBIENT: OCT+ picks the sounds, a scale and a key, switches the Pad's progression and the bells on, and sets long envelopes and reverb. The generators keep playing with the transport stopped.
Sea, surf, storm, wind, stream, fire, vinyl, rain, cave drip, crickets: filtered noise with swells and crackles. REL at its top means INF: a drone that never stops.
Soft two-operator FM bells. Turn DENS up and they play themselves: four loops of 13, 17, 23 and 29 steps drifting apart. The keys choose which notes grow in the garden.
SCL › CHORD gets DENS, BARS, CHORDS and SEED: the Pad plays a progression of its own in the key, slowly changing, never the same twice.
The black keys become chord buttons (F C G Dm Am Em G7 E7 D7 B♭ A7 in C), the white keys strum the chord. ENV makes it minor, LFO adds the seventh; OMNI H holds the chord.
The AMBI reverb: HALL's smooth stereo with tails from 7 s to about 90 s. A fresh start uses it, and every Echoes sound loads with reverb and delay.
Browsing follows the part: slow pads (WARM PAD, TAPE STR, DUSK PAD…), fifteen bells (THUMB, AMBER, SILK, HALO, DEW…) and the AMBI beds.
ECTO: near-black with a blue cast, ice-white text, cyan values, magenta for the active thing. An animated ghost at power-on, and one on the AMBIENT page.
Thirteen engines with FM6, a 64-step sequencer with parameter locks, chance and ratchets, songs, arpeggiator, a modulation matrix, INSERT effects and MIDI LEARN.
Eight short pieces, each played by the firmware's own engines on the four tracks, as the FM-1 plays them: no effects added afterwards.
The 1.1 tape sounds together: NOSTALGIA's chords, MUSIC BOX, HAZY LEAD and the hiss of VHS HISS, all wobbling like a worn cassette.
Felucca's drive: the drum kit, an acid bass in sixteenths, a saw lead and FM6 pads.
The ambient side: AMBI's rain, a soft VOICE choir, BELL's drops and a sub bass, under a long reverb.
Chords strummed across the keys, as OMNI plays them, on PHYS's harp, with a sub bass, a light groove and an FM bell.
FM6's tine piano, an FM bass walking under it and the sampled sax on top.
WHEEL's tonewheel organ, a choir of ANGELS and PHYS's bell tree.
GRAIN's clouds, bowed metal, a drone and the wind: textures that keep changing.
TRIO's chip voices: arpeggios, a fat bass and a sync lead over the kit.

Custom firmware should never be a one-way door.
Chrome or Edge, a USB data cable, two minutes. The installer checks the package before writing and asks the FM-1 what it runs afterwards. An interrupted install resumes.
Hold OCT− while switching on (or let two starts fail) and the FM-1 starts a small rescue mode with only USB, ready for a new install. The boot code itself is never written.
The installer can put M-VAVE's official V15 firmware back at any time, after saving your music to a file.
Try it first in the browser, no FM-1 needed, or install it now.
